**Job Summary**

We are currently expanding our Traffic & Local Roads Team in Edinburgh following several major project wins across Scotland and the UK. The Traffic team is focused on developing engineering measures to achieve the safe efficient movement and interaction of pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. We focus mainly on developing and appraising practical solutions which require consideration of traffic flows, road geometry, cycle facilities, traffic signs, pavement engineering, traffic signals and intelligent transport systems. We strive to achieve the optimum use of the available space which can often be constrained, particularly in urban areas.

Our Edinburgh team is located at 1 Tanfield which is only 11 minutes’ walk from Edinburgh’s popular George Street and an even shorter walk to a whole host of established amenities and services nearby. Our Glasgow team are located at the Aurora building, 120 Bothwell Street in the heart of the City Centre.

Our modern offices and teams have multi-disciplinary design and planning capability and this role will suit individuals who want to develop career in traffic and sustainable engineering solutions and who share our enthusiasm to support our expanding workload and clients. We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns.

Job Responsibilities:

Work winning

+ Establish strong working relationships with local clients in the Scottish region through business development and being the key point of contact for meetings and client liaison

+ Develop strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s Transportation division, working with colleagues to deliver marketing and business development objectives in both the local region and nationally

+ Prepare detailed proposals, client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to major bids as required.

Project delivery

+ Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief

+ Oversee the preparation of feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs for traffic engineering schemes

+ Oversee the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required.

+ Act as a Project Director and Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided

Team management

+ Pro-actively contribute to the management of the Scottish Traffic and Local Roads team, deputising for Traffic and Local Roads District Leader as required

+ Pro-actively support recruitment activity to continue to grow the local team.

Staff development / mentoring

+ Manage career progression of line reports

+ Monitor team skills and ensure they are up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation

+ Promote a health and safety focused culture by undertaking mandatory duties, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members, and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.

**Minimum Requirements**

Minimum Requirements:

+ A successful track record of work winning including preparation of high quality technical bids and proposals

+ Demonstrated experience in developing business and forming strong client relationships including an ability to deal directly with clients and engage and influence at a senior level within client organisations

+ A successful track record in the management and delivery of a portfolio of traffic engineering projects including an ability to effectively manage project commercial risks

+ A proven ability of managing and growing a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and maintain a highly motivated project delivery team

+ A good industry profile with the gravitas to represent AECOM with major clients.

+ An ability to demonstrate high level of experience and technical expertise in some or all of the following areas:

+ Traffic engineering/management design

+ Cycling and walking design

+ Traffic signal design

+ Bus priority and BRT

+ Road safety audits, analysis and design

+ Traffic signing and wayfinding

+ Parking, road safety and public transport design

+ Traffic Regulation Orders and parking

+ Traffic modelling software (e.g. VISSIM, TRANSYT and LinSig etc.)

+ A flexible approach to supporting project and business development activities across UK and Ireland plus wider AECOM geographies

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ A relevant degree and will have appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.Whilst not essential, any of the following skills would be desirable:Project Management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2)CSCS Card holder.
