Creative Director

We’re looking for a dynamic and diversely-talented Creative Director with exceptional leadership ability for the Gensler Seattle office. In this role you will be responsible for guiding clients and a multidisciplinary team of researchers, strategists, technologists, and designers through all phases of the design process, from human-centered research to an innovation strategy that results in the development of break-through human experiences. While you’re a world-class design leader adept at inspiring others— you’re also not afraid to dig in and get your hands dirty, mentoring your team throughout.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide creative leadership, vision, and inspiration to multidisciplinary team of designers
  • Act as top creative contact and problem-solver for key clients
  • Play a lead role in attracting new clients and winning new work
  • Lead teams of designers at the day-to-day level
  • Recruit, grow, and maintain great design talent
  • Working with a design manager, curate staff assignments to align with client and staff development goals
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Create and manage multiple projects from concept to execution
  • Inspire clients to take smart risks and convince them of the impact design can have for their business
  • Present design work to clients in a compelling and understandable way
  • Keep up with design and industry latest trends and new technologies

 

Requirements:

 

  • 12 to 18 years of related experience, with a strong background in design thinking, creative direction, brand strategy, communications/marketing and client relationships. Retail, agency or consulting experience a plus.
  • A proven track record of developing brands and experiences that have succeeded in the marketplace.
  • Excellent storytelling, writing and presentation skills.
  • Business development experience, including proposal writing, client interviews and closing work.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary design environment and to lead design teams to realize creative strategy through multiple media such as digital, print and environmental.
  • Excellent time management and people management skills.
  • An ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel to other Gensler offices and/or client project locations if needed.
  • Expert level user with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and familiarity with other tools in motion graphic design and film editing
