Design Director, Workplace/Retail Interiors

At Gensler’s  Bangalore Workplace  studio, we help companies / businesses innovate. We design spaces, services and environments for organizations/businesss seeking new ways to provide value for themselves by fostering healthier, more effective spaces.   We are searching for an experienced Design Director  with a successful track record of managing all phases of  interiors projects and leading multiple complex projects at the same time .The following  responsibilities  reflect the core activities of the role although there could be changes in the emphasis of duties as required from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative interiors efforts on client projects, developing overall design concepts and design presentation strategies

  • Lead interior design efforts that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentation

  • Advise on the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting

  • Supervise the generation of finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction

  • Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts

  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators

  • Mentor and provide creative direction to interior design teams

  • Act as the primary interior design interface with clients and consultants

  • Collaborate with team members and colleagues to promote an inter-disciplinary design approach and philosophy

  • Participate in business development and marketing efforts

  • Lead strategy led design bridging WP consulting data analysis into physical environment design

  • Provide thought leadership and create concept with strategic thinking behind

     

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 15+ years’ professional experience .

  • Degree in Architeture / Advanced degree in Interior Design or a related field preferred

  • Outstanding graphic presentation skills

  • Proven track record of success in maintaining and growing client relationships

  • Strong, persuasive communicator with excellent verbal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex design concepts to clients

  • International design experience a must.

  • A desire to mentor team members, offer guidance and leadership

  • Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications

  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant software

  • Proficiency in English.
