Digital Graphic Designer

Description

A s a member of the Graphic Design team, your role is to help envision, scope, and implement digital engagement opportunities that bridge the gap between the physical and digital world.  You will leverage a variety of platforms and technologies to design and deliver solutions that demonstrate  a proof of concept simulate an experiences in a virtual environment, test the usability of an interface, or produce digital content.  These projects are created for one-time presentation, concept work, or permanent installation.  In your role, you understand and communicate, both to Gensler and client, how the solution works to meet the goals and requirements of the overall design objective.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Gensler project team to understand design objectives

  • Identify, research, and recommend technology solutions, specifications, and requirements

  • Collaborate with external technology and solution vendors

  • Manage external development vendor relationships

  • Develop user interface and applications such that Gensler delivers on graphic design intent

  • Provide technology inspiration, thought leadership in application of technology in design, and innovative in solution approach

  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities

  • Communicate in non-technology vernacular your recommended solution approach for delivering a project

  • Create content layout/user interface using HTML/CSS best practices

  • Write well designed, testable, efficient markup and code

  • Identify best practices for digital development in support of design and architectural brand experience use

  • Design and implement content management into project solutions

  • Create and maintain project documentation

  • Adapt to skills and knowledge to various projects and platforms

    Requirements:

  • 2-3 Years of direct experience after graduation

  • Ability to present technology solutions to non-technical audience

  • Direct experience integrating digital and technology as a component of physical space design and experience environments

  • A solid understanding of network infrastructure basics

  • A solid understanding of application development including security, session management, and best development practices

  • In-depth understanding of presentation layer technologies and systems

  • Expert skills and knowledge of HTML5/CSS/Javascript and popular frameworks

  • Familiarity with at least one of the following programming languages: PHP, Python, Ruby

  • Working knowledge of databases, version control and software testing tools

  • Experience in common third-party APIs (Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc)

  • Exceptional problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills

  • Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets

  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly and understand diverse technologies and techniques.

  • Desire to employ best design and coding practices and to develop new bold ideas

  • Must provide a portfolio in either PDF form or a link to a website portfolio
