Gensler’s Newport Beach brand design studio is looking for a talented and energetic freelance designer to work on a contract basis as required here onsite at our office and eventually offsite as able. As a leading global design firm, Gensler is committed to being client-first, diverse, exploratory and sustainably-minded. Come join our Newport Beach Brand studio as a consultant working with clients across industries and the world to express their brand stories in physical spaces, print, and digital media through brand design, graphic communications and signage and wayfinding. 

 

The position is best suited to a designer who is adept at developing creative up-front design concepts as well as having technical working knowledge in preparing final documentation and artwork for 3D/EGD, print, or digital applications. Requirements:

  • Your own computer and software. Ability to work onsite at our office.
  • Bachelors or higher degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Visual Communication or similar
  • 5-8 years POST GRADUATION of directly relevant work experience required
  • Experience with print design, digital design and/or environmental graphic design
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to articulate design rationale to internal teams and clients
  • Strong understanding of layout and typography skills
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Word and Excel
  • After Effects, Premiere skills are a huge advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, articulate and well-spoken, and the ability to work well with a wide range of internal teams and clients
  • Interest in expanding skillset across design platforms such as the built environment, experiential design, and 3D/digital media
  • A personal portfolio that contains a strong and varied design approach, as well as specific examples of fully realized and produced graphic projects; process sketch books are highly appreciated
  • Ability to interpret and apply a client’s brand and design aesthetic across multiple mediums
  • Plugged into emerging technologies/industry/design trends and willing to share internally

 

Additional Skills:

  • Working knowledge of motion graphics software , digital video editing tools or other skills related to designing for and creating dynamic content
  • Working knowledge of print and fabrication/construction production and vendor management
  • Proficiency drawing in scale and familiarity with architectural construction documents, elevations, plans, and shop drawings preferred
  • Proficiency in Revit and Sketch Up skills are an added plus
  • Strong sense of materials and fabrication/construction within a built environment
