Gensler’s London office is seeking a Hospitality Interior Design Lead to join our team of design thinkers and doers who specialise in helping to tell our story and create experiences in the context of the Hospitality, Food & Beverage and lifestyle environments, while working on a variety of projects within the public sector. You will be experienced in handling the client process and working with hotel operators simultaneously. You will have excellent presentation and relationship building skills, and the ability to understand and interpret client needs and requirements.

A self-motivated team player with a positive, communicative and collaborative approach, our Interior Designers work in partnership with colleagues across Gensler’s practice areas, as well as with vendors and stakeholders at all levels. You will have the knowledge and ability to provide guidance to less experienced members of the Interiors Team, leading, advising, supporting and mentoring where necessary.

This varied role covers all stages of Interior Design. You should be passionate about conceptual design, developing the best details to realise the creative potential for each project and value attention to detail and good construction techniques. Our designers work collaboratively and enthusiastically with the design and technical team to develop the designs. We look for designers that have a self-starting, motivated approach and will enjoy learning new ways of working and our company standards.

Reports to: Principal


  • Be the senior lead in all phases of the design process including feasibility, concept design, schematic design, design development and construction documents across multiple projects at any one time.
  • Be a champion for high quality, process driven design that is challenging and creative across the office.
  • Lead design pitches, presentations, award submissions and review RFPs for new projects.
  • Identify trends and shifts in the hotel market, undertake speaking engagements and industry interviews to promote thought leadership.
  • Development of design planning, conceptual sketches and detailed sketches of design concepts
  • Development of spacial or three-dimensional design with the team.
  • Participation in selection of colour, appropriate materials and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) for projects in coordination with other team members to meet client's expectations
  • Close collaboration with design team, clients, operators, consultants, contractors, QS and vendors to achieve the design vision.
  • Develop existing client relationships and forge new client relationships.
  • Maintain a high standard of design in the hospitality group and be a guiding design voice in the studio.


  • Demonstrable experience of design of hospitality, F&B, retail or other commercial interiors projects
  • Proven track record of leading the design of hotel & F&B projects.
  • Excellent conceptual design skills and strong knowledge of construction techniques and costs.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Revit knowledge would be advantageous as would additional 3D modelling programs and good hand-sketching skills.
  • A strong working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferable, as well as Sketch-up, Adobe Suite and project information databases
  • A working knowledge of project information databases and specification writing
  • Strong leadership, management and mentoring skills
  • An excellent understanding of FF&E, colour and material specification and development.
  • Excellent client relations and verbal and graphic presentation skills.
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture Technology from an accredited school
  • Excellent graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas
  • Excellent collaboration skills, good self-organisation and strong ability to work in a team environment
  • Proven professional experience essential
