Position Title Inspector IV

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and motivated Inspector IV for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties for a new aquatics facility

  • Responsible for the inspection and reporting on all phases of the contract and assures adherence to contract plans, specifications, ancillary documents and acceptable work practices

  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records

  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning. Tracks quality assurance progress

  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers

  • Performs the Quality Assurance and other related work for the client and project to which the Inspectors are assigned, and will perform all assigned duties during the period indicated on each individual delivery order. Daily written reports and electronic (Excel) spreadsheets will be furnished to the Contracting Officer or the Contracting Officer's Representative each day

  • Responsible for assuring that the terms and condition of the plans and specifications are being met

  • Administers on-site safety standards compliance. Resolves unsafe work conditions and practices. Administers the Accident Prevention Plan

  • Prepares construction modification documents to include sketches and cost estimates. Evaluates impact of modification to schedule. Gathers and evaluates field data. Prepares modifications package for supervisors review

  • Evaluates proposals from contractor and makes recommendation to supervisor

  • Prepares progress reports. Reviews schedules, shop drawings, submittals and contractor quality control reports. Compare data to project documents for consistency. Initiates corrective action as required

  • Evaluates contractors progress reports for consistency with project progress, material quantities and storage, and man-hours. Prepares and coordinates contractor payment documents utilizing progress reports

  • Reports and records significant job progress, critical issues and potential problems. Ensures corrective measures are applied in the field of by elevating problems to appropriate level

  • Independently inspects construction work and incoming materials and equipment to determine compliance with contract documents and schedule

  • Prepares and transfers contract revisions, material submittals, and as-built information. Reviews submittals and maintains submittal registry

  • Performs constructability reviews of plans and specifications

  • Conducts labor interviews with contractor personnel. Checks interview data against payrolls. Enforces compliance with applicable laws

  • Performs all other assigned duties

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 10+ years of experience performing construction quality control/assurance inspections for an indoor athletics center and aquatics facilities

  • Actively participated in the building commissioning process

  • Served as the Owners Representative on state and/or local government projects

  • Experience performing inspections on design-build delivery projects

  • Microsoft Office experience. Must be proficient in Excel

  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely with written and verbal communication. Must be a good communicator

  • Interprets and applies the content of contracts, specifications, plans, applicable codes and standards, field reports and laboratory tests to construction projects

  • Performs duties with only general supervision

  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative for large scale construction projects

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET IV certifications may be required

  • Ability to multi-task and identify priority activities

  • Ability to drive team deliverables in a professionally assertive manner

  • Experience performing owner inspections on Design-Build project delivery
