Your Role

As a Gensler Interior Designer, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. With you as part of the design team, interiors have never been so engaging.  Our Chicago office is seeking a well rounded interior designer with strong conceptual planning skills to lead design on projects within our Lifestyle studio.  

What You Will Do

  • Lead design with minimal oversight from Design Director
  • Perform interior design assignments that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentation
  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting
  • Generate finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction
  • Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts
  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school
  • 4-8 + years of professional interior design experience
  • Strong conceptual planning experience and strong space planning experience
  • Experience with taking conceptual design and executing into construction documents and FF&E packeges
  • Ability to plan, visualize design concepts and experience with construction document preparation
  • Ability to iterate conceptual ideas (by hand and SketchUp) and translate those ideas through the design phases
  • Highly Proficient in Revit, SketchUp, and Indesign other 3D and modeling software programs proficiency also preferred
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Previous experience with mixed use, landlord services, and/or repositioning preferred
  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
