**Job Summary**

As a part of our continued growth, our Whitby office has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager, Mechanical Engineering in our Buildings & Places business line. The role of the appropriately qualified candidate will provide a suitable blend and balance of technical and non-technical responsibilities including staff management, business development, project management as well as project technical leadership.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Contribute to the preparation, execution and delivery of approved financial business plans

+ Effectively manage projects on time and on budget with quality, meeting client expectations

+ Support cross-selling initiatives and proposal development between business lines and geographies within the organization

+ Ensure compliance of technical and quality standards

+ Lead compliance with corporate safety goals and initiatives

+ Support development and execution of geographic and business line strategy

+ Identify and promote growth in key strategic markets as well as with key strategic clients

+ Promote and formalize mentor / mentee relationships through the engagement of less experienced staff

+ Contribute significantly to the successful design, production, coordination and management of buildings projects

+ Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members in the design and specification development of mechanical building systems

+ Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs

+ Prepare proposals as required for all new work related to the department and firm

+ Ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices

+ Work closely with other discipline Engineers, Architects, Designers and Project Managers as a key team player within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team

+ Actively involved in business development

+ Act as an ambassador for the department; raise the corporate profile as an industry leader

**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

+ Experience in building systems with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a lead capacity

+ Registered with PEO as a Professional Engineer

+ Working knowledge of applicable local and national building codes and common mechanical engineering software

+ Must have a well-rounded background in mechanical project design and delivery

+ Background in building mechanical design (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and Building Automation Systems)

+ Strong interpersonal communications skills

+ Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects of varying complexity and size/scope

+ Ability to travel to other cities as required

+ Experience and success with Design Build and/or PPP projects

+ Project management experience

+ Solid technical skills in building engineering projects developed within a professional services environment

+ An energetic and enthusiastic coach and mentor driven by diverse and challenging projects, with an ability to recognize and develop talent.

+ Exceptional client care and service delivery skills

+ Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills with a dedication to developing lasting client partnerships (internally and externally) and to maximizing employee engagement

+ Proven strengths in becoming well integrated with a national group and collaborating in a team environment to develop, execute and achieve strategic and operational plans

+ Comfort with a corporate structure and the associated administrative and reporting requirements (e.g., quality management, health and safety, SOX reporting, etc.)

+ Extensive understanding of the business of building engineering and architecture across a broad spectrum of end uses such as transit, public spaces, higher education, municipal facilities, industrial, and institutional

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Member of ASHRAE is an asset

+ LEED Accreditation

+ CBCP Certified Building Commissioning Professional

+ PMP designation

+ Alternate Delivery/ Design Build /P3 experience

+ Consulting engineering experience ideal

+ 15+ years' experience preferred
