Job Title:                                  Marketing Coordinator         

Reporting to:                             Detroit Managing Director

Responsibility:                       Develop and implement pursuit strategy and integrated marketing campaigns that will drive Gensler’s visibility, new business and shape the firm’s reputation in Detroit and the surrounding area.  

Liaising with:                                      Regional Marketing Director, Regional Public Relations Manager, Regional and Office Practice Area Leaders, Firmwide Public Relations, Firmwide Communications, Firmwide Practice Area Marketing, Firmwide Marketing Community

Gensler is a global architecture, interior design, planning and strategy firm with 46 offices and 5,000+ employees around the world. 

Our Detroit office is seeking a Marketing Specialist to develop and implement pursuit strategy and integrated marketing campaigns that will drive Gensler’s visibility, new business and shape the firm’s reputation in Detroit and the surrounding area. This position on the marketing team brings with it a level of insight and strategy to project pursuits, working with multiple Principals and Practice Area Leaders in developing Gensler’s approach to specific clients and opportunities. The position requires an excellent communicator, problem solver and action-oriented team player. Marketing Specialists have an understanding of the design industry and the Practice Areas that Gensler targets.

Responsibilities of a Marketing Specialist include:

  • Working with Principals and senior staff to produce proposals, presentations; r esearch, design, write and produce all materials in alignment with FW brand standards.
  • Deep understanding of and/or ability to learn Gensler’s portfolio of work, Practice Areas and broad firm capabilities (a requirement upon hire).
  • Develop, execute and lead marketing campaign activities to drive thought leadership, elevate our people, build reputation and win new work.
  • Develop strategic short- and long-term marketing campaigns to support key business initiatives, taking input from stakeholders across multiple business units, including Regional and Office Leadership & Design Synergy Leaders.
  • Partner with Practice Area Leaders and Marketing/PR team members to identify and develop opportunities for communicating our message in the market, including speaking engagements, conferences, social media messaging, Gensler-hosted events (i.e. Dialogues with Gensler, Think Tanks and Roundtables), etc.
  • Partner with regional marketing team and business development champions to strategize and co-create content, both written and visual, expressing our firm’s point of view and differentiators in the marketplace.

  • 5 years marketing experience
  • Strong graphic communication and design skills are a requirement.  
  • Ability to recognize competitive advantage opportunities for Gensler, leveraging these into marketing pitches.
  • Self-motivator with strong organizational and intra-personal skills, and a great collaborator.
  • Experience working directly with senior staff on business-critical projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and diverse project teams in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Competency in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign) is a must.
