Regional Photography Coordinator (Northeast US)



Gensler, a global design firm, is seeking a Regional Photography Coordinator based in our New York office to support the photography of Gensler’s projects and people in our Northeast Region (offices in New York; Boston; Toronto; and Morristown, NJ).

The Regional Photography Coordinator will work hand-in-hand with our Photography Specialist, as part of the larger regional marketing team, to capture compelling images of our architectural and interiors projects, as well as staff headshots and event photos.


*****Due to the nature of our photo shoots, this position may frequently require work on Saturdays and Sundays.


What You Will Do

  • Pre-shoot planning and coordination
    • Field project photography requests from design teams and marketing/PR leaders, and obtain the necessary documentation
    • Secure necessary contracts including client release forms and photographer contracts
    • Maintain a working knowledge of our roster of freelance photographers, including their strengths, weaknesses, rates, etc.
    • Facilitate ongoing clear communication between the photography team, the design team, and the client
    • Schedule dates for walkthroughs and photo shoots, and coordinate the logistics of travel, building access, staging/dressing, volunteers, meals, etc.
  • Photoshoots
    • Attend photoshoots as needed
    • Work with the photographer and photography specialist to facilitate the staging of each shot, including placement of models and props
    • Contribute to the overall efficiency, ease, and professionalism of the shoot, and ensure that the client’s space is respected and treated with care throughout the shoot
  • Post-production
    • Facilitate the process of selecting final shots and obtaining “redline” markups from the design director
    • Thoroughly understand Gensler’s standards for photography content and style and ensure that all photography meets the firm’s high standards of quality
    • Correct and edit photos using Adobe Photoshop CC with direction from the design director and photography specialist
  • File maintenance
    • Ensure that images at all stages of post-production are saved in the appropriate format and location
    • Create contact sheets and image collections as necessary
    • Upload finished photography to the firm’s digital asset management system, including all appropriate notices regarding usage rights, confidentiality, etc.
  • Sale and distribution of photography assets
    • Maintain positive working relationships with peers at partner firms including furniture vendors, lighting designers, etc.
    • Contact vendors and other partners to offer finished photography for sale
    • Issue invoices, usage rights, and other documentation, and work with accounting staff to receive and process payments

Your Qualifications

  • A creative individual with an eye for photography and an understanding of the principles of design, color, and composition
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and thorough documentation
  • A proactive problem-solver and facilitator who is comfortable in a challenging, fast-paced environment with multiple ongoing assignments
  • A personable and professional person who can represent the firm to external partners and clients
  • Flexible, motived, eager to learn, and comfortable in team environments
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, Bridge, and InDesign
