**Job Summary**

Our Minneapolis studio is actively seeking a dynamic Director - Interiors for our Metro Buildings + Places business unit, with primary responsibilities to deliver high-quality design projects to clients, and will also manage projects, as well as the project team to deliver quality work on time and budget.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:


+ Provide strategic vision and day-to-day administration of the Interiors group

+ Responsible for development and execution of goals, business plan and profitability, aligning efforts with regional and national business unit plans and goals

+ Supervise the production of drawings and documents, oversee design quality control on all projects

+ Manage fee proposals and workload projections for projects

+ Work closely with project managers to identify budget and schedule constraints, support project profitability

+ Oversee the project team in the documentation of the design from concept through design

+ Understand and enforce conditions of client contract, build additional design services opportunities where appropriate

+ Ability to think strategically, implement change, enforce policy and resolve conflict

Leadership/Staff Development

+ Serve as a mentor by coaching design teams and individuals; grows and develops the group and individual members

+ Responsible for performance development, prepare and deliver staff evaluations, and determine workload allocation

+ Participate in interviews and recruiting of professional staff

+ Encourage staff exploration and innovation to achieve project design excellence and continual improvement for the achievement of original design ideas and concepts

Business Development

+ Support development and execution of the Interior’s marketing strategy at the local and regional business unit level

+ Identify new business opportunities and grow current client relationships

+ Ensure positive client, consultant, contractor and jurisdictional satisfaction, grow our presence in the market

+ Work with marketing team in development of marketing material and proposal preparation

**Minimum Requirements**

Knowledge / Skills

+ Experience in design, design development and project leadership for large-scale interior design projects

+ Strong knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment, interior finishes, lighting, signage, color and materials

+ Thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets, resulting in project profitably

+ Proven ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with external clients

+ Thorough knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines

+ Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM)

+ Proficiency in the following computer skills: Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture required

+ 10+ years of experience with a large interiors or architectural firm, with at least 5 years as Senior Level Interior Designer; design and project management experience for commercial interiors required

+ Registered Interior Designer or Architect with current license required

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Master’s degree in related field

+ Knowledge of Revit

+ NCIDQ certification

+ For Registered Architects, NCARB registration preferred

+ Sustainability, resiliency and/or climate adaptation experience a plus but not a requirement
