Project Manager - Workplace Interiors

Gensler’s Houston office is seeking a Project Manager for the Corporate Interiors group. This position will provide design support for completion/execution of design concepts, prepare schematics and design development drawings, resolves design issues, analyze design options and execute projects through construction administration. Must have prior experience working directly with contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates on corporate interiors projects, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development
  • Resolves complex technical and design issues
  • Develops space planning concepts and generate program documents
  • Participates in selection of furniture systems and specifications
  • Works with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
  • Assists in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Provides project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications and material selections required for construction
  • Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples  
  • Implements one or more projects through the management of project teams
  • Negotiates fees and contracts for projects
  • Manages scheduling, budgets, staffing, project set-up with sub-consultants, vendors and contractors
  • Tracks financial performance of project

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years related interior design experience, with a strong background in corporate interiors
  • Interiors/Workplace/Facilities management experience in all phases of projects through post-occupancy
  • Professional degree (Master or Bachelor) in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program
  • Strong knowledge of the design process, including FF&E, furniture systems and specifications, color and materials
  • Extensive knowledge of architectural principles/practices
  • Knowledge of building codes and structures
  • Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding graphic presentation skills
  • Revit skills are highly valued
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp and 3-D Studio Max preferred Submittals must include work samples for full consideration.
