**Job Summary**

AECOM is seeking a Optical Engineer in Fort Meade.

The selected candidate will:

+ Follow detailed methods and procedures as part of system integration process.

+ Demonstrate technical skills in telecommunication networks with focus in the fiber optic communications transport technologies and its applications. Have understanding of optical test equipment usage, optical test application and optical measurement principles.

+ Provide support to network integration and engineering services on optical communications engineering transport solutions for a variety of telecommunication customers.

+ Plan and exercise network upgrade on live system.

+ Ensure requirements outlined in the product and project specifications are thoroughly engineered and tested for customer projects.

+ Proactively identify any potential technical issues that could impact the project.

+ Manage engineering documentations both internally and customer facing.

+ Provide timely status reporting, time tracking and accurate data reporting

+ Take ownership, follow plans and execute deliveries of project solutions to meet project commitments especially on technical solution and delivery quality of the project.

+ Be self-directed and demonstrate solid judgment when managing travel, expenses, time and project constraints.

+ Position may require travel.

Additional information:

Telecommunication Network- Optical Engineering Support. The candidate shall

assist the Government in designing, implementing, testing and maintaining of the optical

telecommunication networks across four to five different projects and programs. This task is considered

mission essential and personnel who perform this task are required to support the Government during times

of natural disaster, war, and other times of crisis. The candidate shall provide planning, architecture,

engineering, integration and implementation input to optical network project and program. The candidate

shall provide implementation and operational support for environments containing fiber optic transmission

system equipment (e.g., terminal optical line amplifiers and optical add/drop multiplexers and outside plant

equipment to include fiber optic patch panels). The candidate shall provide extensive knowledge in

DISA/DODIN infrastructure and enterprise services. The candidate shall conduct site surveys, develop

engineering design packages, and draw up presentations to include Analyses of Alternatives, white papers

and other engineering documentation in support of tasks. The primary place of performance for work

performed under this subtask is Fort Meade.


**Minimum Requirements**

+ Bachelor’s in an Engineering field or Computer Science from a four year accredited college or university.

+ Experience: 10 years of professional experience performing similar duties to include: optical transport, Ethernet (Layer 2), or encrypted SONET frame solution engineering.

+ Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

Position requires an Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
